The BAS: Past, Present and Future.
I know that to most people a fish club is a fish club, a fun interesting gathering of like-minded people. It’s fun, it’s supposed to be. The BAS is not just any fish club… “The History of the Boston Aquarium Society” by: George and Frieda Meserve, printed in installments in the Daphnian (BAS’s old magazine) is worth reading; just start and you won’t be able to stop.
BAS’s present is you and it is right now. Not a particularly good year, but something the BAS has survived already one. Read about it, thanks to the Meserve’s. I did and came away with a new-formed pride, a felling of belonging and some sense of responsibility to see that it keeps going, especially through these dark times. Some of us old timers remember decades ago a very active BAS. We were a regular at the Boston Spring Flower Show. One year our display won First in our Class and Third overall. We had a Newsletter, A Yearly Show, etc.
