Hi all,
I noticed Saturday that I have ancistrus fry! Quite a pleasant surprise. My question is this: This tank is a species tank that only have ancistrus and plants. Will the adults mess with the fry or should I try to catch them out? I have a cycled tank available, but I was saving it for the next big auction. What does everyone think?

I have had best results with pulling the fry and raising them in a container within the tank. The adults won't eat them but the fry die unless you "over feed" them. Using this method I'd get 80-90% survival, but 10% leaving them in the tank. The only exception would be if you are willing to feed fresh hatched baby brine every other day, then they babies will make it. If you leave them in the tank they just waste away.

Thanks Chuck!
Was I am worried most about is whether they'll get preyed on. The tank is very heavily planted so there should be plenty micro stuff for them to get started on. I will increase feedings as well as the light intensity to grow some more algae. I also moved so0me of them to another tank that is also heavily planted. They'll be alone in there. I wish I was able to feed more often but work interferes with a lot of things. :)
