What do you with an overpopulation problem. I got a bag of Endler's Livebearers at the annual auction. I've loved these fish for a long time and was happy to have them (again).
These things are born pregnant.
I have the girls in a 20 gallon and weekly I sex them and put the boys in the boys' tank. Must have 30 of them now. Gorgeous boys, boring girls. But I think I have 50-75 in the girls tank. Most are fry, of course, but I've not let a full grown boy in there for about 6 - 8 weeks now.
I think the only solution is predators. Keep some boys and girls in a tank just for them, but often snag most of them and drop them in a tank with predator, it will give me an excuse to keep angel fish again!
Is there an answer here? I wouldn't mind 50-100 colored up boys, but to get there I'm guessing I'll have about 300 females/fry.
And are they really born pregnant?
