Attached image shows a mystery growth (Ram used for scale) that's been in my 20 g for some time. I'm asking about it now because it's finally reached the top if my to-do list.

It's growing on the petrified wood in the pic, and on some slate elsewhere in the same tank.

If I wasn't clear, I'm talking about the white dots on the rock in the foreground.

Do you have assassin snails by any chance ?
I saw those in one of the 3 tanks I put a single assassin in -- I assumed they were snail eggs, although oddly, the tank where I started getting baby assassin snails (and still breed them ) :
a) wasn't the tank where I saw those
b) has never had those

Nope, never had assassin snails. Although, my Nerites appear similar in color scheme, they're undeniably Nerites.

Maybe I have an assassin snail lurking; but, I watch this tank all the time and think I would've noticed.

The mystery continues...
