For nano tanks I like (in no particular order) :
Micro rasboras (especially Boraras brigittae
the "chili micro-rasbora"
neon green kubotai "rasboras" ( Microdevario kubotai
"clown killifish" ( Epiplatys annulatus
either celestial pearl danios or emerald dwarf rasbora (Microrasbora erythromicron
) but not both (they inbreed)Heterandria formosa
I'm pretty sure Uncle Ned's Fish Factory (in Millis) has all but the heterandria in stock.
He also usually has at least one species of pygmy cory, sometimes multiple species. also lots of interesting shrimp, sparkling gouramis, easy nano plants like pellia, anubias nana petite, etc.
for plant clippings - check out the next club meeting, there are almost always lots of plants in the auction at the meeting.
I am amidst jumping back into the hobby and working on a few "nano" tanks.
Bad time of the year to do so, being so cold and all i do not trust shipping to my home.
I am looking at a variety of fish to fill these tanks and hoping to try my hand at plants under low to mid range lighting. As the title says, im interested in:
- shrimp, rcs or other, just want some color that will breed true
-pygmy cory cats
-badis badis, thought the scarlet were neat but i am interested in anything locally
-suggestions for nano tank fish
-plant trimmings! java moss, anubias, amazon swords, crypts... etc.
Part-time fishguy at Uncle Ned's Fish Factory (saturdays)
Species I am currently keeping/breeding include :Copadichromis borleyi
"redfin" Labidochromis caeruleus
yellow labsAulonocara sp.
"Lwanda"Ancistrus cf. cirrhosus
(I'm in the middle of resetting and redesigning my fishroom - so things are kinda quiet)
