how would i get rid of and prevent white fungus from growing on my driftwood?

I would think that otocinclus (if you want a tiny fish) or Ancistrus (if you want a medium size fish) would do a great job eating away anything that was rotting on the surface of your wood.

I've never seen white fungus appear on my driftwood. Are you sure it isn't on some food that's on the wood, isntead of on the wood itself?

or -- the wood is rotting.

I know when I tried to use dried grapevine (ie lizard jungle gym), it wasn't aquarium safe -- it started to rot, it became covered in a cacoon of fungus or bacteria, and it reeked of "low tide on the mudflats"
