Four lots of Wardley Advanced Nutrition Perfect Protein Tropical Flake Fish Food in the 1 ounce size have been recalled by the Hartz Mountain Corp. because some of the containers may be contaminated with salmonella, a disease that is a potential health risk to people handling the food, as well as the animals that consume the food. A random sampling of the product during the company’s quality control procedures detected salmonella in several product lots.

The company has not received any reports of people or animals becoming sick from handling the product in question and is removing the suspect product from retail stores and distributors. The product UPC number is 0-43324-00591-7, and the product lot codes are PP34911, PP34912, PP35011 and PP35012.

Consumers who have purchased Wardley Advanced Nutrition Perfect Protein Tropical Flake Fish Food should check their product and its lot code, and immediately discard any product that has a matching lot code. If you have any questions regarding the recalled products or wish to get reimbursed, contact Hartz at (800) 275-1414.
