30 gallon long, 40 lbs of eco-caribe ? chichlid sand (black aragonite), 50lbs of dry rock from Unique.

Tank is mature, just torn down, but I still have the water and sand it. So, when I take out most of sand and put the rocks and the new gravel in, how long do I have to wait until the water is "ready" for the mbuna? Are we talking a week or a month?

Thanks!

My advice is cycle it for a month with a group of something hardy, danios are usually recommended. Feed them once every other day to decrease the incline in the nitrogen cycling curve and reduce the risk of bigger ammonia spikes.

I'll be using a mature filter so I'm not too worried about cycling. I was thinking more about the pH, GH and KH adjusting to the eco-caribe.
