March 2024 Monthly Meeting
March 18th, 2024 meeting will be A talk on Vernal Pools
Chuck Fittz will be giving a talk on vernal pools. He was a biology teacher for 22 years at Groton-Dunstable Regional High School. The school's rural campus contained 170 acres of woods, swamps and several vernal pools. Learn about what constitutes a vernal pool and its inhabitants. Also, a demonstration on how to make an inexpensive plankton net for about $5 dollars. For fish keepers, these body of waters can provide plenty of daphnia and cyclops, which most fish will inhale.
We will be meeting at our usual location at the New England Aquarium's Harbor View Cafe. Doors open at 7:30PM, and the meeting will begin at 8:00PM.
If you are driving, street meters are free with no time limit that day, as it is a holiday in Suffolk County (Evacuation Day). Set your GPS to 45 India St for the closest available meters to the NEAQ. Paid parking is available nearby in the Boston Harbor Garage. If you are taking the MBTA, take the Blue line to Aquarium.
